Your First Visit

We always look foward to welcoming new patients and are excited to begin treatment with those that need it. Whether you have been referred to us by your dentist or have come for an independent consultation, we know that every individual is unique and we endeavour to treat all our patients as such. If you have any questions or concerns before, during or after your visit, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We understand that your time is valuable and ask that you respect ours too. Please try to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment so that you have time to park and fill out the necessary paperwork. Children (under 18 years of age) should be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.

When you arrive, please sign in at reception so that we know you are waiting. Before your appointment, we will ask you to fill in a confidential medical history form and patient card.

During your first appointment, the Orthodontist will make a thorough assessment by examining your face, mouth and teeth. We may also need to take x-rays, tooth impressions and photographs. If x-rays are necessary, there will be a short wait while the film is developed.

After the examination, the Orthodontist will determine if treatment is necessary and will discuss treatment options with you, including different methods and timescales, any associated costs or risks and any additional procedures such as extractions. It is important that you are fully informed of and happy with the proposed treatment plan and expected results. To help with this, we recommend reading our About Orthodontics page before your first visit so you can gain a better understanding of what orthodontic treatment involves.

You do not have to make a decision at your first visit; we understand that you or your child may need some time to decide whether or not to go ahead with treatment. You may find the information on the About Orthondontics and About Braces pages helpful in making your decision. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
